Interlined Curtains
Nothing says luxury like made-to-measure interlined curtains.
Interlining means that a layer of Domette (a wadding-type material) is handsewn in between the decorative fabric and the lining/blackout lining; this adds extra body to the curtains and is the top-end finish.
We have seen more and more customers want this finish due to the thermal properties it also offers.

Is Interlining Needed?
In short, no, it’s not needed; however, it is highly recommended for the most luxurious look and feel.
Interlined curtains offer the absolute top-end finish. A layer of wadding-type material is added between the lining and decorative fabric which is a lot more time-consuming and added labour costs.
For most fabrics, our 3-pass blackout lining offers a good structure and body to the curtain already, with the interlined option being a nice extra. For think fabrics such as satin and silks (real or faux) we would always make the curtains with interlining to give the curtain enough body and structure.
What are the Benefits of Interlined Curtains?
We (almost) always recommend that curtains are interlined as they, without a doubt, offer the best and most exquisite finish. When entering a room, the curtains can often be a focal point, and therefore the opulence that interlined curtains will offer is highly recommended for the best impression.
We’ve outlined below the main benefits:
- a huge and major benefit is the aesthetic look interlined curtains offer
- the extra layer means the curtains fall and hang in the best way possible
- as a result the folds of the curtain are thicker giving a more luxurious feel
- the natural Domette layer offers insulating properties
- years ago, clients would have interlined curtains installed over their windows to help reduce draught due to the thermal aspects of the extra layers
- furthermore, it looks and feels the most luxurious, so you can immediately see the handsewn quality that interlined curtains offer
