Pinch Pleat Curtains
Pinch pleat curtains are one of the most popular curtain headings; the hand-finished and bespoke nature of the pinch pleat means these are always made to measure and offer a luxury finish.
This particular pleat is most beneficial for those needing a good night’s sleep as it can cover the track, meaning it minimises light seepage.
The organised pleats allows the curtain to stack very neatly, in contrast to pencil pleat which is a more casual pleat and falls in a more relaxed way
There are three styles available: single, double or triple pinch pleat. The most popular is the double pinch which is the modern take on the triple pinch which is a more ‘formal’ option.

Why choose Pinch Pleat Curtains?
Pinch pleat curtains, whether double or triple pinch, are our most popular heading.
This hand-pleated curtain heading offers a level of luxury as each pleat is made by hand; in addition to a minimum of 2.3 x fullness needed to make our pleats. The fullness means your curtains are made with lots of body and structure, more so than Wave or a casual heading
Due to the extra fullness needed, pinch-pleated curtains tend to be more expensive and show an extra level or luxury. Ideally, pinch-pleated curtains are also interlined, offering the best finish to your curtains and allowing them to fall in the best way possible.
Characteristics of Pinch Pleat Curtains
Pinch pleated curtains cannot be bought as ready-made; this is one of the reasons why when our customers choose curtains, they want a curtain heading that needs to be bespoke.
- Importantly and firstly, our pinch pleat is hand-finished
- It’s important to note that many companies’ pinches are not hand-pinched which isn’t as polished
- Secondly, our pinch-pleated curtains use a minimum of 2.3 x fullness, meaning there’s a luxurious feel
- A few companies use a 2 x fullness which we feel is a little skimpy!
- The pleat allows the curtain to fall neatly and is more structured than pencil pleat
- Can be both a cleaner finish off the floor or softly on the floor
- We recommend that the curtains sit slightly on the floor
- The pleat sizing is 5 inches, this can be made longer which we generally do for drops over 300 cm
