Thermal Curtains
We have a huge range of stylish and modern thermal curtains that help insulate your home. Our linings and interlinings help keep the cold out, and keeping the warmth in. Choose from a huge range of fabrics and styles to ensure you get the look you want as well as the design.
We have seen an increase in clients asking for ways to help reduce energy bills and curtains are the first line of defense to help with insulation.
The best way curtains can help with insulation is to have your curtains interlined. We use a natural Domette wadding material that is sewn between the decorative fabric and the lining. This thick layer not only adds warmth due to the thickness, it also traps air creating a barrier and improving insulation. Interlined curtains also look and hang much better, with more body and thicker folds.

Lining We Use for Thermal Curtains
There are a variety of curtain linings that we use to help keep your home warm, with different thicknesses and weights, you can get the right finish for your home.
- Thermal lining (non-blackout)
- based on a cotton face fabric with a single-pass acrylic thermal back coating. This coating increases its thermal properties; keeping sound levels down and the heat in and cold out. It also offers light protection by reducing the amount of external light that enters the room.
- 3-pass thermal blackout lining
- we use soft outblack silk which is ideal for adding extra body to high-quality lighter weight face fabrics, whilst improving draping qualities. It has a three-pass blackout coating offering complete light exclusion and extra protection from the sunlight. Its thermal properties keep sound levels down and the heat in and cold out
- Natural interlining
- Our medium-weight Domette interlining offers light protection and thermal properties by reducing light entry into the room, keeping sound levels down, and keeping the heat in and cold out. Interlinings are the perfect way to create opulent window treatments and improve the insulation levels of any room. Often used with particularly high-quality face fabrics, this traditional interlining which is a heavily brushed 100% cotton twill, is placed between the face fabric and lining to create softer, fuller folds for a more luxurious drape.
Curtain Layers to Reduce Heat Loss
Layering curtains with linings helps trap air that creates a barrier. It helps to reduce the flow of cold air into your home, and reduce heat loss from your home to the outside.
Windows account for a huge amount of airflow and heat loss, up to 25% in many homes. Installing thick, heavy curtains are the first line of defense against and has a dramatic effect on reducing heat loss.
